Pre-Trip Planning for #AsiaEurope2016

Wow! It’s October! Our month-long (3 weeks for Ran) vacation starts next month. It has been almost two years since me and Ran started planning this. We are both very excited for #AsiaEurope2016!!!

Please add our other social media accounts to see updates in real time! Here’s our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter links.

We just recently bought a new mirrorless camera, the Sony A6000, for this trip. I was able to try it out at Disneyland yesterday. But I still need time to try it out. (Travel Tip: Test out new gadgets before your actual trip. It will save you the hassle and you’ll always be ready when a photo opportunity comes up) We are still deciding what gadgets to bring between the two of us. We will post an update closer to our trip date.

We cannot wait to test this out before our vacation!

I wanted to share a working itinerary for #AsiaEurope2016. It is our longest vacation so far and we are going to do a lot of things and share them here.

Seoul, South Korea

I leave California 4 days ahead of Ran and that gives me a total of 1 week in this Asian capital. My cousins and a friend will be touring Seoul with me during my first 4 days. My love for South Korea started when I was very much into Korean dramas and variety shows and then eventually K-pop. My family and I absolutely love Korean food that the servers in nearby KBBQs recognize us.

Places we plan to visit include:

  • Gyeongbokgung Palace
  • Bukchon Hanok Village
  • Tongin Market, Dosirak Cafe
  • Ewha Women’s University
  • Myeongdong, Gangnam, Hongdae
  • Everland
  • Namsan Tower

Manila, Philippines

Unfortunately, we are only going to be in Manila for 3 days. Our priority is to attend Ran’s cousin’s wedding in Manila. There will be enough time to see our relatives and friends. But no time to visit all the wonderful places that we want to visit. We are leaving Manila to fly to Europe maybe even before the wedding reception finishes.

Danube River Christmas Market Cruise (Budapest to Nuremberg)

We are booked on Ama Waterways’ Danube River Christmas Market Cruise this December. I absolutely love Christmas season and it is a dream of mine to experience the Christmas markets of Europe. We embark in Budapest, Hungary and disembark in Nuremberg, Germany visiting Vienna, Melk, Passau and Regensburg. We are planning to take the optional excursion that goes to Salzburg as I am a Sound of Music fan. The cruise includes walking tours into town and allows time so that guests can visit Christmas markets.

Prague, Czech Republic

I stumbled across Prague as I was researching about our upcoming river cruise. But I decided to DIY our Prague stay instead of adding it on as a post-cruise stay. It was a big difference in price and we will be able to control the pace of our touring. My cousin and her significant other will be joining us on this leg of our trip.

Places we plan to visit include:

  • Old Town Prague, Astronomical Clock
  • Charles Bridge
  • Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral
  • Wencelas Square
  • Moser Glass

Paris, France

Who doesn’t dream of going to Paris? And because Lovers in Paris is that one Korean drama that started it for me, of course, I have to go! It sounds and looks romantic, every time I hear or see pictures about Paris. Chocolates, cheese and wine anyone? Sounds like a happy place!

Places we plan to visit include:

  • Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Arc de Triomphe
  • Versailles
  • Louvre
  • Disneyland Paris

London, England

Our last stop on this trip is London. This is where I meet the Queen and The Boy who lived. I wish. We are only here for 2 days and there are a lot of things on our list. What to do?

Places we plan to visit include:

  • Warner Bros. Studios – Harry Potter
  • Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey
  • London Eye
  • Any musical/play
  • The Stonehenge

Whew! Our list is not set in stone. We are still in the process of finalizing our itineraries. I am glad that Ran goes along with my decisions. Although, of course, I ask for his opinion and update him because I don’t want him to be surprised. All of these places, except Manila, will be cold so we bought new coats to keep us warm. Coming from California, we don’t really know exactly what to bring.

What do you think of our list? If you have any suggestions and tips, please feel free to hit us up here or on our social media accounts! We appreciate any input as we want to make our hectic vacation as smooth as possible.
